The Value Map
Here is a small city, every parcel worth the same to begin with. Pick a public amenity and place it on the grid. Watch the surrounding land light up with value — even though no one touched those parcels. Location value isn’t created by landowners. It’s created by the community around them.
Click a parcel to place the selected amenity. Click it again to remove it. Land value rises as translucent bars out of the city — drag the city to rotate it.
Every amenity you add is paid for by the public — yet the rise in land value it creates flows to whoever owns the nearby parcels. They did nothing to earn it. This is the heart of the matter: communities create land value, and reclaiming it would fund the very amenities that created it in the first place.
